‘Soft target is a military term referring to un-armed or undefended targets intended to be destroyed. For example, a soft target would be an automobile, a house, or assembly of people. By contrast, a hard target could be a well defended installation’.
To become a ‘Hard Target’ you need to have greater threat awareness, be more informed about violence, context and consequence, and be able to use basic techniques that may actually save your life. Hard Target is not about multiple techniques, confusing martial arts patterns and flawed self defence techniques – it is about WHAT WORKS in real life situations.

The Hostile Environment Close Protection Course consists of classroom instruction and field exercises. This course is designed to train or refresh accredited individuals in the operational phases of conducting protective security operations in hostile environments; including providing security for a protectee under all conditions that may be encountered in a high risk or hostile environment. Emphasis is placed on operational skills, use of appropriate weapon systems, technology, Standard Operating Procedures, emergency response actions and on physical skills necessary to provide a high degree of validity and reliability within the operational protective team. This course will prepare individuals for all tasks associated with performing the duties of a Protective Security Detail operative in extreme hostile environments. Surveillance is both an art and a science, which can only be mastered from practical experience. The definition of surveillance is the observation of people, places, or objects. It can be overt or covert and cover a time span of one day to several weeks. This surveillance course has been developed to meet the needs of both the private and corporate sectors.
The five-day course covers all the skills required by a student to function as surveillance operative.
